What (and Who) Is In Your Support Inventory?

March 22, 2022

When I was in the irreverent activist choir, the Church of Stop Shopping, the entire community would celebrate each person’s birthday with a two minute dance party. This picture serves as my example of what being supported and celebrated feels like.

Why is support as necessary as air, food, and shelter? We need each other. We are communal beings. We create feedback loops of meaning by connecting with each other. We co-create our identities. We co-create our stories that we tell ourselves and pass on to future generations. We co-create our destinies.

Many of us hurt each other. Many of us heal each other too. We matter. We make an impact on each other, especially with those of whom we’re in closest proximity. Wouldn’t it be great if you were to go deeper in your practice of using your power for good, of saying the things that serve your highest good and those of everyone you touch?

So here are my questions, and an invitation to work with me in an in-depth, private container where you get to be deeply held and supported in the exhilarating yet often terrifying journey of self-discovery and creative expansion through the voice.

In what ways are you supported in life? Friends, family, spouse, colleagues, support groups, spiritual guides, communities, an investor, a sponsor, a benefactor, kind strangers, a daily expressive arts practice, journaling, meditation, a reiki practitioner, a masseuse, a therapist, a mastermind, a mentor, a coach?

In what ways are you supported in expressing yourself fully? While doing an inventory, did it dawn on you that you could use way more support in this realm?

My work serves holistic-oriented women committed to moving beyond fear and emotional stuckness to voice their truth, expressive arts enthusiasts whose souls are deeply nourished by community vocal rituals, spiritual eclectics who embrace wisdom from a wide variety of sources, or some combination of these.
Through structured group improvisation and vocal embodiment practices, I facilitate sound healing sessions, workshops, private vocal empowerment coaching, retreats, and concerts that “a-ha!” you to new levels of self-discovery, emotional freedom, joy and creative flow. I am a partner artist at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute as a core member of the vocal improvisation ensemble, Moving Star.
